Did you ever wonder where Northern Basswood came from?
Many carvers insist that the best basswood comes from northern Wisconsin and the Upper Peninsula of Michigan.
We use mostly winter cut basswood because it dries whiter and the bark sticks to the wood. This is important for both the barkside and oval products. We also prefer hand cut logs and bolts because the bark is much less beat up by harvesting.
